I'm Ahmad, a Principal Software Engineer based in Barcelona.
I build backend and distributed systems. I've also led engineering teams, worked with product and business stakeholders, and taken products from early ideas through delivery and ongoing support.
I like being involved before the technical direction is settled and understanding the problem, questioning assumptions, and helping a team decide what to build. Staying involved after launch gives me a better sense of which decisions worked and which need another look.
Here I write about software architecture, distributed systems, and the practical decisions involved in building and running products. I'm particularly interested in how systems recover from failure and how teams keep them understandable as they grow.
